🟥 The Base Chakra (Root Chakra)
The Base Chakra, also known as the Root Chakra, is the foundation of your horses energy system. It governs feelings of safety, security, grounding, and survival, anchoring your animal fully into their physical body and the Earth.
For horses this chakra is deeply instinctual. When the base chakra is balanced, your animal feels calm, present, confident, and secure in their environment. They are able to relax, rest deeply, and respond to life from a place of trust rather than fear.
What the Base Chakra Supports
A strong sense of safety and stability
Belonging
Grounded, calm behaviour
Confidence in their body and surroundings
Healthy nervous system regulation
Trust in humans, herd members, and territory
This chakra is especially important for animals that have experienced trauma, rehoming, neglect, separation, or environmental stress.
Connected to the adrenals, coat, and teeth.
Signs of an Imbalanced Base Chakra
An underactive or stressed base chakra may show up as:
Anxiety, fearfulness, or hypervigilance
Restlessness or inability to settle
Clinginess or, conversely, withdrawal
Startle responses or nervous behaviour
Difficulty adjusting to new environments or routines
Bolshy Behaviour
Animals are incredibly sensitive to energetic shifts, so changes in their home, herd, or human emotional state can directly affect this chakra.
How to Support & Balance the Base Chakra
You can gently nourish your animal’s base chakra through:
Grounding practices just as breath work
Calm, consistent routines
Gentle touch and presence-based connection
Energy healing, sound, and frequency work
Crystals associated with grounding energy (such as red or earth-toned stones)
Even small, intentional moments of calm connection can help your animal feel more rooted and safe.
A Grounded horse Is a Regulated Animal
When the base chakra is balanced, your animal feels held by the Earth and supported by life itself. From this foundation, all other chakras can function more harmoniously, allowing your animal to express their true nature—calm, intuitive, and connected.
